About the Role

Role Overview

VAGUE is looking for a Content & Distribution Strategist to optimize and supervise the structure and rhythm behind our global content engine with the goal of growing our audience, increasing engagement and establishing VAGUE as a cultural authority across fashion, film and music. This is a hands-on position on the Head of Digital career track for a strategic thinker capable of translating strong editorial ideas and a growing agency portfolio into consistent, high-performing output that feels human, independent and culturally tapped-in with minimal to no reliance on paid advertising (except under special circumstances such as partnered event sales or open calls). Our community was founded on creative ideas, authentic relationships and word of mouth. We’d like to maintain these principles as much as possible as we scale.

Problem Statement

As it stands today, VAGUE has strong ideas but weak execution. Content exists but doesn’t go out consistently. The system exists but doesn’t run smoothly. As such, we are looking for someone to own the gap between creative development and audience engagement.

You will be responsible for:

  • activating the VAGUE community as both creators and amplifiers

  • improving and managing content packaging and distribution systems

  • turning editorial output into consistent, high-quality social media output

  • creating and delivering distribution strategies for agency projects and initiatives

📑 Requirements

  • Strong understanding of content distribution, not just creation

  • Experience growing or managing social platforms (especially Instagram, TikTok)

  • Ability to build simple, effective systems (not overcomplicated workflows)

  • Strong editorial instinct for tone, culture, context

  • Comfortable working with creatives especially writers, filmmakers, designers

  • Self-directed, proactive, accountable

  • Confidence adhering to ethical Artificial Intelligence usage i.e. for educational or operational purposes only (e.g. search engine AI overviews, comparative analyses, trend forecasts) with explicit crediting

👥 Key Responsibilities

1. Content Distribution & Publishing

  • Own day-to-day publishing across Instagram, TikTok, Threads and LinkedIn

  • Ensure consistent output (target: 5-7 strong posts per week)

  • Improve speed and efficiency from content completion to publishing

2. Content Packaging & Performance

  • Develop strong hooks, captions, covers and formats

  • Distill VAGUE’s witty, culturally literate yet analytical editorial voice across social

  • Optimise content for engagement and organic reach (shares, saves, conversation)

  • Work closely with contributors to translate ideas into platform-native content

3. Content Systems & Workflow

  • Adopt and maintain a clear, simple content workflow

  • Reduce bottlenecks between content, design and distribution

  • Optimize submission requirements to maximize output from projects and pitches

4. Editorial Calendar & Cultural Timing

  • Develop and manage a rolling content calendar

  • Identify content opportunities to clarify our positioning and editorial authority

  • Ensure VAGUE shows up in key cultural moments (fashion weeks, awards, releases)

  • Help shift the STUDIO team from reactive to proactive

5. Contributor Activation

  • Work with contributors to ensure content is delivered, published and amplified

  • Support contributors with optimizing content ideas and deliverables for social

  • Encourage contributors to engage with and distribute VAGUE content

  • Help turn the existing network into an active global content engine

  • Pitch and contribute to audience development initiatives

❤️‍🔥 You Might Be a Good Fit If:

  • You’ve grown an account, publication or brand from the ground up

  • You care about how content is received, not just how it’s made

  • You are a systems thinker and understand how parts affect the whole

  • You understand internet culture but don’t rely on trends to perform

  • You have strong interest in fashion, music, film and / or pop culture

  • You have a keen eye for design and visual arts (photography, video, motion)

  • You see collaboration as a creative tool, not a tick-box exercise

  • You can balance structure with creative flexibility

😬 You Might Not Be a Good Fit If:

  • You need constant direction or oversight

  • You focus on ideas but struggle with execution

  • You rely heavily on trends, viral tactics or ‘how-to’ hooks

  • You have minimal to no leadership or management experience

  • You are not comfortable using shared / collaborative workspaces

  • You prefer to work alone or independent from the team before regrouping

🎯 Success Metrics (First 3–6 Months)

  • Consistent publishing cadence established on Tier-1 accounts (TikTok, DIGI IG, THREADS IG, CLUB IG)

  • Increased engagement (shares, saves, comments) on Tier-1 accounts

  • +10% audience growth on Tier-1 accounts

  • Improved contributor output diffusion and distribution

  • Clear, functioning content system with minimal founder intervention

ℹ️ Working Structure

  • Reports to Founding Engagement Director

  • Works closely with residents, designers, contributors

  • Owns day-to-day content execution and distribution

  • Paid on the last business day of each calendar month

  • One-month probation period with a 14-day notice period

  • 30-day notice period thereafter up until two years of service

  • 90-day notice period after two years of service

💰 Compensation

£100 per calendar month with flexible part-time working structures and growth-linked incentives. Working in the STUDIO as a PLUG member means you have the opportunity to join the starting line of our talent directory. This means you will get first dibs on applying for agency projects within your skill set for which the client hasn’t already requested specific member(s). If successful, you will be paid separately for your contributions out of each project’s budget, on top of your £100 STUDIO stipend, on a case by case basis.
